The operation

When you arrive, you may be offered a relaxing drink. You will then lie comfortably in the operating theatre under the laser device, and an anaesthetic will be administered simply by instilling eye drops that numb the surface of your eye.

A small retractor holds your eyelids open and the procedure can then proceed according to the method chosen beforehand (Femto Lasik/ TransPRK / Supracor).

The operation is quick (around 15 minutes) and painless.

The first phase, access to the corneal treatment zone, is carried out.
Then, in the second phase, the laser modifies the curvature of your cornea according to your correction.

Grâce au suiveur oculaire (Eye-Tracker), le laser suit les micromouvements de l’œil pendant le traitement, assurant ainsi une parfaite précision et sécurité.

You will be provided with protective eyewear as soon as you leave the operating theatre.

Directly after the operation

After the laser operation, you will receive post-operative recommendations. Your vision will be blurred for a few minutes, then improve hour by hour. We advise you to return home accompanied.

If the technique chosen is Femtosecond Lasik, you will be able to resume normal activity the following day, depending on how you feel.

For technology TransPRK, recovery takes place within a week of the operation, with visual fluctuations regulating naturally over time. Work can be resumed approximately one week to 10 days after the operation.

Femtosecond Lasik

Femtosecond Lasik is the operation with the fastest visual recovery. After the initial phase of creating a corneal flap, the laser will modify the curvature and thickness of the cornea to correct your vision.

Its main advantages:

  • Rapid recovery: 100% vision the next day
  • Rapid return to work (a 2-day sick leave is issued)
  • The thickness, size, centring and regularity of the flap obtained can be programmed to an accuracy of just a few microns.
  • Latest cutting-edge technology
  • Rapid operation (15-20 minutes)
  • Eye-Tracker safety system. The laser follows the micromovements of your eyes, guaranteeing extreme safety.
  • Freedom and comfort: 100% clear distance vision over the long term
  • Painless operation. Anaesthesia using simple anaesthetic drops

Trans-PRK

Trans-PRK (trans-epithelial refractive photokeratectomy) is a 100% laser eye correction method that does not require the eye to come into contact with a surgical instrument. Once the operation is complete, a contact lens is placed over your eyes and kept in place for a few days to ensure greater comfort.

This procedure is fast, contact-free, non-invasive, safe and gentle on the eyes.

Its main advantages:

  • Suitable for very thin corneas or corneas with irregularities or asymmetry
  • Suitable for combat sports (boxing, karate, etc.)
No contact with surgical instruments, all-laser technique
Non-invasive procedure, fast and gentle on the eyes
  • Rapid operation (15 min)
  • Eye-Tracker safety system. The laser follows the micromovements of your eyes, guaranteeing extreme safety.
  • Attractive/reduced price
  • Recovery in 7-10 days: (a 10-day sick leave is issued)
  • Freedom and comfort: 100% clear distance vision over the long term
  • Painless operation. Anaesthesia using simple anaesthetic drops

Technologie ICL

  • Phakic lenses are designed for patients who cannot benefit from laser surgery, mainly because the correction is too high or the cornea is too thin. In this case, a phake lens placed inside the eye corrects the defect. This type of lens, invisible to the naked eye, can be placed either in front of the iris (ARTISAN lens) or behind the iris ICL lensIn the case of presbyopia, the crystalline lens, which has lost its accommodation, is replaced by a multifocal lens, allowing vision at any distance without glasses.
  • Phakic and multifocal lenses are implanted under local anaesthetic using drops through a 2.2 mm micro-incision.
  • Both eyes are operated on a few days apart
  • Recovery time is extremely fast

3. LASER OPERATION

L’opération à lieu dans nos locaux en ambulatoire et dure environ 15 minutes.

4. Post-operative follow-up

Post-operative follow-up consists of 3 or 4 appointments, depending on the technique used. Our doctors ensure that your eyes are perfectly cared for until they have fully recovered, and are available to answer any questions you may have.

  • Rapid recovery, as early as 12 hours after laser surgery with Femtosecond Lasik
  • Clear, stable vision over the long term
  • Comfort
  • Freedom

Is the operation painful?

NO. Anaesthetic drops are instilled into the eye to numb the ocular surface. For the Lasik technique, the patient will feel pressure when a suction ring is applied to the eye. At this point, vision may be lost for a few seconds. The rest of the procedure is painless. After the procedure, patients may describe a sensation of grains of sand that diminishes after a few hours. For the TransPRK discomfort may be felt for 24-48 hours.

Are both eyes treated at the same time?

YES, in general. Large-scale studies have proved the safety and effectiveness of treating both eyes in the same session. Of course, you also have the option of having the treatment in two sessions if you wish.

Is there any risk if I move my eyes during the procedure?

NO. At the beginning of the operation, a small retractor will hold your eyelids open and anaesthetic drops will ensure that you do not need to blink. Your surgeon will ask you to fix your gaze on a target during the operation. If your eye should move, the eye movement detector (Eyetracker system) will interrupt the laser, which will be resumed a few seconds later after the device has been refocused.

Will I be hospitalised?

NO, YOU WILL NOT. This is an outpatient procedure. The patient arrives 30 minutes before the operation and leaves the centre immediately after the treatment. It is quick and painless.

Is an anaesthetic used?

YES. The procedure is carried out with simple anaesthetic drops instilled into the eyes. No injections are required. If you wish, we can offer you a sedative to take half an hour before the operation.

Do I need to take any precautions before and after the operation?

YES.
On the day of the operation, we advise you to come accompanied. There is no need to fast. For greater comfort when you leave the clinic, remember to bring a pair of sunglasses.

It is essential that you leave the clinic accompanied and get some rest. It is essential not to rub your eyes for the first few days after the operation and to instil the eye drops that have been prescribed. Following the rules of hygiene and treatment will enable you to resume your activities quickly.

You will be reminded of all the necessary recommendations at the end of the operation.
