Astigmatism is a particularity of myopia or hyperopia, the correction in the horizontal meridian is not the same as in the vertical meridian. This particularity causes a blur at all distances. The surgical technique allows treatment of astigmatism up to 5 diopters.

Laser surgery for astigmatism consists of reshaping the curvature of the cornea. The surgical technique for astigmatism is Femtosecond Lasik and in some cases Transepithelial Refractive Photokeratectomy (TransPRK).
